 Joey Nawa, OTR/L Occupational Therapist Joey received his master’s degree in occupational therapy in 2003 from Loma Linda University in California after completing his undergraduate coursework in kinesiology with an emphasis in exercise science at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Joey has experience in a wide range of OT settings from neurological rehabilitation post acute care to intensive care to outpatient services. In addition to providing occupational therapy services, Joey also has significant experience as a supervisor and program developer in a variety of OT settings, most recently as a manager and chief operations officer at CARE Evaluators, LLC in Los Angeles, where he oversaw a staff of 50 employees, was responsible for hiring and training of new staff, and performed functional capacity evaluations and ergonomic consulting throughout North Los Angeles County. Since he became part of BIG FUN’s therapy staff in July 2005, Joey has taken on a caseload of children with a wide variety of diagnoses and has provided occupational therapy services for BIG FUN in several different settings – the gym, at the homes of several home schooled children, and on-site at his clients’ schools.
